Transitions

Problem

Hard cuts between media feel jarring, especially on ambient displays or presentations.

Solution

FlexGrid applies smooth transitions when cells advance to new media. Video and image cells have separate, independently configurable transition styles. Available effects include crossfade, slide, and dissolve. A linked mode applies the same style to both types.

Tier Availability

• Free: Not available (hard cuts only).
• Plus / Pro: Full transition system with separate video/image styles.

UI Flow

1. Open Preferences > Playback.
2. Choose a transition style for video cells and/or image cells.
3. Optionally enable linked mode to apply one style to both.

Known Limitations

• Transition duration is fixed per style; custom durations are not yet supported.
• Transitions interact with VIDEO-to-VIDEO swap timing (see architecture notes on playerReady handling).
