Text-to-Speech
Problem
Unattended displays and presentations sometimes need spoken narration to accompany visual content.
Solution
Text-to-Speech reads scripts aloud using macOS system voices. Audio ducking automatically lowers video volume during narration. Users write a script with timestamps or scene triggers, and FlexGrid speaks each segment at the appropriate moment.
UI Flow
- Open Settings > Audio > Text-to-Speech.
- Write or paste a narration script.
- Assign segments to scenes or timestamps.
- Select a system voice and speaking rate.
- Enable audio ducking to lower grid audio during speech.
Tier Availability
Pro only.
Known Limitations
- Uses macOS AVSpeechSynthesizer; voice quality depends on installed system voices.
- No SSML support; emphasis and pauses are controlled by punctuation only.
